I thought, “maybe I will go for a run today.”
It’s warm enough in my car, but I know its cold outside.
And yes it’s raining.
But at least it’s not sleet, like yesterday. That was terrible. Today feels better. Well, less worse.
But I feel better today.
I will wear my heavier gloves though. Yesterday my hands got numb.
(Beep). At least my Garmin is waterproof.
It’s not even that bad out.
There’s a pretty big puddle. And another. Glad I left my new shoes at home.
I am a gazelle, deftly hopping past puddles, finding solid ground to bound around.
I think I will go for five today.
I am feeling pretty good, and moving better too. How long do I have tomorrow? 8? 10? 16 on Sunday. Better weather though.
(Beep). Half a mile- only nine more of those to go.
I think I’ll turn this way, run somewhere slightly different today.
Rain isn’t stopping, and those puddles aren’t getting any smaller. Still feeling ok, but getting slower. I’ll make five.
(Beep). A mile. Not the best pace, but I am still moving. Getting soggier.
The gazelle died a few puddles back. I am an elephant, slogging along the path. Water? roots? Just keep going.
More puddles.
At least my shoes aren’t too soggy. Not really worth jumping around the rest of the puddles though.
(Beep). Two miles.
Should I pick up my foot cadence, or just dolphin kick?
Those streams are pretty swollen. Is that supposed to be a pond?
Why is that man throwing me a large orange donut?
(Beep). Three miles. Still going. At least I’m still moving.
Not feeling bad. Not feeling great? Is that ariel or ursula- I can’t quite make her out.
(Beep). Four miles. Still no sign of land- how long is it?
(Beep). Five miles. Done! Can’t wait to get out there tomorrow!
Who am I kidding- I never thought “maybe”.
