My goal is to qualify for Boston- or run a marathon in about three hours. Based on my Rock N Roll Raleigh marathon time, I was 40 minutes closer to that goal last spring at my first marathon than this year at my third. Hell, my marathon time at the Beach2Battleship Ironman was 10 minutes faster- after 8 hours of swimming & biking!
I haven’t raced any triathlons this year, and I haven’t maintained a good diet. It is an ignominious achievement to say that I have ran over 1000 miles this year given that I have lost 0 pounds since I started my running streak. (Well specifically since I did not start the streak at my goal weight, but 25 pounds above it). If I want to get closer to a BQ than I will have to get strict with my diet and push away the oreos and chocolate milk. I know I can do this, but I have not committed to it. Now is the time.
I don’t know if I will be able to go from 188 pounds to 163 pounds. I don’t know if I will be able to shave 25% off my marathon PR of 3:58… or 90 minutes off of my 4:36 marathon this spring. But the trying starts now. (Shut up, Yoda!)

Good luck! I ran on Boylston street the other day.
