Late last year I registered for my first road race in about 10 years- the Krispy Kreme Challenge. 2.5 miles from the NC State Belltower to Krispy Kreme, a dozen donuts, and then 2.5 miles back (Race Map at MapMyRun). Race day is now less than a week away- Saturday, February 9.
Make no mistake, the K2C is a ‘bucket list’ race- with calorie laden glazed “treats” the raison d’être. Howevah… the K2C is five weeks away from my next race- and a dozen donuts could have some… interesting consequences to my training plan. For the moment I am leaning toward the wimp-out route: snacking on one or two donuts mid-race before turning back to campus. Good strategy, or too timid? Regardless I am excited about my first post-resolution road race.
Maybe next year I will go all out, race with a geektastic costume and finish off the entire dozen en route to a PR.
